Moms give over their hearts when they give life to their children. Sometimes their bodies too! From that very first moment, there are many, many sacrifices and many, many demands. Mothers are truly amazing aren’t they? They care for us in a way we can’t quite imagine. Once a year we can all get together and celebrate just how extraordinary they are. Maybe you are a mom looking to be spoilt, want to celebrate your own mom or show appreciation to your partner. Well, you have come to the right place as we have put together some lovely things you can do as a family on Mother’s Day.

3 fun things to do on Mother’s Day

Have fun outdoors

What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than some spring sunshine and fresh air fun. Going for a long walk together and talking about the things you appreciate most about the mama of the day can feel really special. Try finding a lovely spot for a picnic or if walking isn’t your thing take the bikes out instead. You could try adding some mindfulness into the mix and noticing the sounds, textures, and scents of nature. You could even take it to the next level and identify different types of wildlife and plants with the fun app Seek by iNaturalist. If you would rather stay closer to home, a fun scavenger hunt in the yard could be just what you all need. Your children could find things that remind them of mom or any items that are connected to this special day.

Get creative

Why not bake a cake for the mom of the house or perhaps all get stuck in as a family? If you wanted to go the extra mile, you could also throw a mini tea party with cakes, sandwiches and decorations. Making a Mother’s Day crown, a Thank You card, or writing a little poem are some other fun crafty ideas. If glue and glitter aren’t your things, cooking a family meal together can be a lovely bonding activity. Have a go at these healthy, nutritious snacks for some more inspiration.

Time to rest

Maybe mama is exhausted and needs the rest of the house to provide a lovely sanctuary for the day instead. Perhaps mom could go to a yoga class or massage while everyone else buzzes around ticking off the household to-do list. Gary Chapman talks about Acts of Service as one of The 5 Love Languages®. This is when someone gives up their time to do something of value for you and make your life easier in some way. Doing chores around the house, putting gas in the car or fixing something that’s broken can be a wonderful act of service that brings a smile to mama’s face.

Whatever it is- sprinkle some love and joy. Oh, and fun! Laughter will create beautiful memories to come. Remember to honor that very special person and express your deepest thanks for all she is and all she has given up.
