Meet Bianca
Moshi is primarily used by Bianca for herself. For her new daughter, it’s an added bonus! She tells her story here…
Please tell us a bit about you and your family:
I live in Bruges, Belgium.
What first made you search for an app to help with your situation?
I had trouble relaxing and sleeping.
Did you try any other ways to help with your situation?
I first tried another app but kept going back to the two Moshi stories on there. So I just switched to Moshi entirely.
Was it getting to sleep that was the issue or staying asleep? Brain not switching off?
I had trouble falling asleep. My brain was, indeed, not switching off. It helps me to focus on something relaxing to shut out my own thoughts.
How do you find the content differs from other apps you tried?
They have calming content, but not entertaining enough for me. It could not hold my attention and my mind started going off on its own again. When I listened to SleepyPaws on another app, my mind stayed with the story and the music. (Even though I don’t think I’ve ever really heard the end of the story! I’m always asleep by then). When I tried the Moshi app, it made a real difference for me. The stories are entertaining enough, even for an adult, to hold my attention, but relaxing enough to allow me to fall asleep.
How did you feel the moment Moshi worked for you?
I felt relieved that I had a go-to when I have trouble sleeping.
Do you use Moshi primarily for sleep or do you feel it’s used for your mental health too?
I have tried a few of the mental health stories. Sometimes when I feel myself getting worked up, I take a step back and listen to one of the short meditations. Right after giving birth, I also listened to the guided meditations (progressive relaxation), because I was feeling very overwhelmed and tired but also unable to relax. Moshi helped me through those first nights at the hospital.

Do you plan on using Moshi with your baby? if you have already, what is working?
I’ve been using Moshi for 2 years now and have seen the app develop and add features and stories. I was planning on using the app with my baby and I tried to use it to set a relaxing mood for breastfeeding, but that was not a success as we both kept falling asleep!
What feature do you find the most helpful on the Moshi app?
A while back, I asked for the feature to have multiple personal playlists. Moshi delivered! I now have a separate playlist for naps, relaxation, nighttime, and getting back to sleep, …
If you were asked to recommend Moshi, what would you say?
I absolutely love it. It’s relaxing for children, but also interesting for adults. I like how Moshi parodies things so it’s recognizable, but still suitable for children. For example, the sleep-easies, underground clubs where you can sleep because it’s forbidden.
What would be the one word you’d use to describe Moshi?
Relaxing!
Do you have any tips for other families using the app?
Just try it. There are now so many stories to choose from, that everyone will find something they like.
