Meet Deja, Craig & Anansi
Please tell us a bit about you and your family:
We live in Shaker Heights, Ohio where my partner is a photographer and videographer for high school and college sports. I opened my holistic dog grooming salon, True Vibes Unleashed, while I was pregnant with our son, Anansi, in December 2020. Anansi was born on April 2021 and we made the decision to care for him between the two of us working instead of sending him to daycare so young during the pandemic.
What was it that first made you search for an app to help with your situation?
Like many parents of newborns, we had trouble getting him to settle and go to sleep. We were able to care for him and get work done while he was awake, but we counted on his naptimes to get most of our focus work done. We had also learned how important sleep is for little ones, so we wanted to make sure he was getting the daily recommendations for his age.
Did you try any other ways to help with your situation?
We mainly used Spotify for Womb and Vacuum sounds. We would also use Youtube for baby lullaby music.
How did you feel the moment Moshi worked for you?
Anansi used to cry inconsolably in the car every time my mom picked him up. One afternoon when he was about 2 months old, she began searching Spotify for something to soothe him as he was having another episode before she pulled off. She came across SleepyPaws and he instantly stopped crying, looked up in wonder, and fell to sleep 30 seconds later. She continued to play it during his naptimes and it worked like a charm every time. She excitedly told me about it and we started playing it at home and the salon. After a few days, I subscribed to the app and explored the other music and stories while he was at the salon with me. I noticed the dogs in my care would calm down too! I began using Moshi’s music for every dog reiki treatment and they would melt into relaxation. We use Moshi every day, several times a day as it has helped in more ways than helping our son sleep.
What feature do you find the most helpful on the Moshi app?
When we first got the Moshi app, there were hundreds of stories but there wasn’t a search option. Shortly after requesting this feature, they made it happen! Over time, they’ve created a fun and engaging search screen to help discover new stories and music.
If you were asked to recommend Moshi, what would you say?
I would recommend Moshi to anyone in a heartbeat. No person is too young or too old for the soothing effects of the app. Moshi is incredibly responsive to their users. Their mission in improving sleep and fostering calmness is wildly apparent and they are great at flowing with holidays, back to school, and whatever else is going on in the world.
What would be the one word you’d use to describe Moshi?
Do you have any tips for other families using the app?
Use it for yourself too! I use the meditations and I have my favorite stories for when I’m having an adult meltdown. I think it’s good for him to see that mom has these difficult emotions too and what she does to calm herself down. As I’m calming down, I can see him calm down too! My favorite stories are Angel the Sky Pony and Building A Beach Club with YoYo. When I am having an extremely difficult time, my go-to is 5 Minute Anger Release with Blurp.
