The Best Shows on PBS for Kids

We live in a world where technology is at the forefront of most people’s lives. As caregivers who want the best for our kids, it’s important to remember that not all screen time is bad screen time. Finding ways to shift screen time into educational moments is a great plan to feel better about your little one sitting in front of the TV or grabbing their tablet.

Here are our favorite educational shows on PBS KIDS:

Clifford the Big Red Dog

Clifford has been a well-loved show for many years, and for good reason. You might even remember watching this gentle giant as a kid yourself! This is an animated series about a larger-than-life dog that teaches viewers about several social-emotional skills. From empathy to relationship building – each episode is packed full of knowledge for your kids while still being entertaining. 


This series is based on the best-selling Scholastic book series by Norman Bridwell. So, if your little one ends up loving this big red dog, be sure to check out the books, too!


Best suited for kids 2 years old and up


Super Why!

Here at Moshi, you know we love anything educational that follows a storybook pattern. That’s why Super Why! has made it onto our list!


PBS describes this show as “the only preschool property created to help kids learn the fundamentals of reading through interactive storybook adventures.” Each episode follows an adorable team of superheroes who leap into books in search of answers to everyday problems. Not only does it help teach problem-solving skills to kids, but it also demonstrates the importance of regular reading.


Best suited for kids 3 years old and up.


Elinor Wonders Why

This is another wonderful program perfectly suited for kids who are entering their preschool years. Through this animated series, kids follow the main character, Elinor, an inquisitive bunny to learn all about the power of curiosity and creativity.


Elinor Wonders Why also dives into topics like caring for the environment and the importance of diversity and inclusion.


Best suited for kids between 3 and 5 years old.


Hero Elementary

Another kids’ program packed to the brim with superheroes and superpowers, Hero Elementary teaches kids problem-solving skills while exploring the world of science.


PBS describes this show as one that gives kids “the tools to solve problems by thinking and acting like scientists and igniting their natural curiosity and empathy.”


Best suited for kids between 4 and 7 years old.


Arthur

Arthur is yet another iconic PBS show that you might remember having watched as a kid yourself! This series is full of heartfelt relationships and the many challenges kids face as they grow up.


It’s based on the best-selling book series authored by Marc Brown. Be sure to check them out if Arthur is a hit in your household.
